Custom Projects

I adore custom projects because we get to collaborate on unique and sentimental pieces that will be worn for a lifetime and beyond. Whether it’s sourcing ethical stones, playing around with compositions, or polishing gold, I remain in awe of jewelry and the magic and meaning it holds. I use a number of methods from wax carving to fabrication to CAD and 3d printing to design and make your piece. Let’s make some magic!

  • Step One

You reach out with a general sense of what you're looking for in a custom piece and we schedule a video appointment to discuss how we can make your dream jewelry come to life. I love to see any reference photos or drawings of pieces you like.

  • Step Two

Once you send a deposit, I send you drawings and digital images of the design for you to approve or comment on.

  • Step Three

I move forward with the making part of your design whether it's through wax carving, fabrication or CAD design. If we are using CAD, I will send you a rendering for final approval. The piece is then casted and stones are set.

  • Step Four

You receive your piece and fall in love!

Common Questions

Can I use heirloom stones?

This depends on the stones and their quality. Oftentimes, yes, but we will have to assess if the stones are in good enough condition to use.

Please note Take Shape Studio will not be liable for any damage to heirloom or client stones or settings that may occur during the production process.

Can I melt down my gold to be used in a new design?

This also depends on the metal and design. Melting down gold can lead to porosity and lack of integrity in your new piece, so we tend to say no to reusing metal.

What does the payment process look like?

After we meet and confirm that we will be working together, I ask for a $500 nonrefundable deposit. The remaining payments can be split up or paid once the piece is finished. I can take payment via zelle, check, or invoice.

Can I change my design?

Yes! We try to get as close to what you're looking for in the early stages, but for most pieces I will send you a CAD rendering that you can add minor edits to. If there is a big change there may be additional fees.

Can a custom piece be returned?

No, all fine jewelry and custom pieces are final sale.
